Data Protection

The WildWeb considers the privacy of our members, projects and visitors very important.

When registering at thewildweb.org you will be asked to provide certain information about yourself, including; name, email address, gender, date of birth, favourite animal and information about previous volunteering. Furthermore if you wish to have access to our 24 hour support line we will also ask for contact information for your next of kin and your passport number.

We collect this information only if it is submitted to us by you when registering with us. Regular visitors to the site can refrain from providing this information if they wish to do so, although it will mean that they are restricted from certain privileges that members have.

We may collect non-personal information about visitors to our website whenever they visit. This may include; Mobile network information, unique device identifiers, hardware model, operating system and location information. As standard amongst many sites we may make use of log file information, including; internet protocol address, browser type, date and time, referring/exit pages, internet service provider etc. Such information is used to; track visitor movements and trends, administrate the website and gather demographic information (this information is not personally identifiable).

We also use Google Analytics, which is a third-party web measurement tool which places a cookie on your computer so that it can better recognise you if you visit our website in the future. Although it does not collect personal information, you can review the Google Analytics privacy policy if you require more information on it. If you choose to disable Google Analytics you will still have full access to thewildweb.org.

Thewildweb.org offers social sharing features via third party social sites (Facebook and Twitter). This enables users to share information and their actions with the general public and other third-party websites. You may edit your personal information by visiting your account page, furthermore you may also deactivate your account although certain information may still be retained.

We reserve the right to monitor all conversations and messaged exchanged via our messaging system on thewildweb.org. This is to enhance the experience of our members and to ensure that it is not being miused and that our projects aren’t receiving inappropriate messages.

Thewildweb.org do not trade, sell or rent its members personal information to any others or third parties unless we feel that disclosure is entirely necessary to adhere to any regulation, legal process, applicable law or requests from governments and to administer our Terms and Conditions.

From the information that is collected and submitted to us, we may use it in the following ways; For improving our website via feedback from our users, For keeping users in touch with the Wildweb using periodic emails for; notifications, enquiries, promotions and newsletters, For confirmation of correctness and validity of the information you have provided with us (via email confirmation), For enhancement of our visitors experiences, this may be by supporting you more efficiently or by understanding our visitors better with the use of information they have provided us, For displaying potential volunteers names to projects they enquire with.

At our sole discretion we have the right to modify or revise the information here regarding data protection. You therefore take sole responsibility to review this information as well as the Terms and Conditions each time you visit thewildweb.org.
