frequently asked questions

The best place to start is by browsing through our projects and sending a message to any that you may be interested in. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like and make sure you do your research about the country, the animals you would be working with and what kind of experience past volunteers have had.

Dont be shy! Send them the message with any questions that you may have. Be sure to have a look on their website and social pages to see what other volunteers have said about their experience.

The Wildweb is a completely free resource to support international wildlife conservation. If you want to support us, please let your fellow animal lovers know about our network and social pages. You could also check out our wildlife conservation clothing, which provides further financial support to the projects on our network.

Wildweb.shop is our wildlife conservation clothing brand that was launched as a way of bringing our projects extra donations and financial support. The clothing is designed for animal lovers and with every item we sell, a portion of the profits are donated to one of our projects.

If you want to know more about one of our projects, the best thing to do is to write to them with your questions directly. Often answers to your questions will also be on their website, which (as well as their email address) can be found on their Wildweb profile page.

Yes - many of our projects accept small or large groups, just let them know the details when you enquire.

We are often asked this question and the most important thing to remember is that our projects are not substandard or different to those offered on other websites by volunteer organisations. The reason they are cheaper with us is because (unlike other volunteer organisations) we do not take any commission from volunteering fees, as we want our projects to receive 100% of your donations.

We check every single one of our projects before they feature on the Wildweb to ensure that they are ethical. As we DO NOT support; the mistreatment of animals, keeping animals captive unnecessarily, profiteering from animals, unnecessarily breeding or humanisation, canned hunting or any project that is not productive for wildlife conservation.

The Weekly donation is the financial contribution the volunteer project asks for in return for each week of volunteering. Usually this covers the cost of your food and accommodation during your stay and supports their conservation work. Although the specifics of what is included differs from project to project. You can contact the project directly or send us an email if you would like more details as to what is covered by your chosen projects weekly donation.

Unfortunately this is not something we offer, but you should check with your chosen project directly as they may be able to advise about arranging this locally.

Unfortunately at the moment we do not process the payments for our projects. This is something that you will have to arrange between yourself and your chosen project. Some of our projects ask for a deposit or payment in advanced and others ask for you to pay upon arrival.

Visa and vaccination requirements differ depending on which country you are going to, how long you are staying for and what you will be doing at your chosen project. We recommend that you contact your country of destinations Foreign Commonwealth Office to inquire about Visa’s and visit your Doctor or GP about what vaccinations you will need.

Many of our projects are located in some really remote places, often without internet or even electricity. Because of this some don’t check their emails everyday and could take up to 2 weeks to respond. If you have waited over 2 weeks without a response please contact the Wildweb team so we can get hold of them for you.

There are many ways in which you can support us and our mission. The easiest of which would be to follow us on Facebook or Instagram and to let your fellow animal lovers know about us. We also run a wildlife conservation clothing brand (wildweb.shop) where we donate to our projects with every purchase.

The Wildweb team is always here to help, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to send us an email and we will get back to you as quick as we can - support@thewildweb.org
